What happened to Happy Endings...

The last, like, 5 or 6 movies I've rented all have the same sort of ending. Everyone dies and/or there's no closure; it just ends suddenly-- I guess its stretch to even call it an ending. Did anyone see History of Violence? Wife finds out that the hero (anti-hero?) has been living a lie and it looks like she can't forgive him. Then he kills everyone and returns home. Then it just ends. Are they getting divorced? Will she forgive him? I don't know! Actually these sort of endings are refreshing sometimes-- it just seems like the current trend though, and in this movie seemed a little forced.

Another movie, Nariobi something-or-other (forgot the name), ends with the hero dying. In this movie though I thought is worked though.
Layer Cake? The hero dies. Why? Whats the message here? Is there a message?
Lucky Number Seven. Okay the hero doesn't die, but everyone else in the movie does.

The only movies I thought were forced were Layer Cake and History of Violence (I actually laughed when the hero died in Layer Cake). But even the good ones are starting to feel predictable now. I used to think it was corny when a movie ended a little too happily but now their endings are just too depressing-- and the corniness level is just as high.

So what's my point? Nothing, no conclusion, no message. (crazed laughter...)

I will check out those films you mentioned. I love unhappy endings. But I don't like subtitles. Are these movies foreign? I don't want to have to think too much...

I saw this very disturbing and unhappy ending film last week albeit it was foreign (but it passed my minimal thinking criteria) - "13 Tzameti".

Other memorable, disturbing, and unhappy ending films - "Sling Blade".

Cyberpantz are virtual pants, duh!

Those movies are U.S. and U.K., so...no subtitles. It's not that I don't like unhappy endings, but they're just starting to look cliche. I saw Sling Blade and loved it, saw it twice actually. It was really sad but made sense with the story.

Never say 13 Tzameti, nor can I pronounce it. What language is it in?

13 Tzameti is in Georgian! I forgot there was even a country called Georgia!
